The JH Cross Country teams competed at the Devine Invitational this past week. The meet was run at the Devine Golf Course. Here are the results from the 7th and 8th Boys and Girls teams.
7th Grade Girls
The 7th girls placed 2nd with 37 points at the meet. On the medal stand for the Lady Eagles was Neelah Martinez with her 3rd place finish in a time of 16:22. Also receiving medals were Evalynn Garza in 4th place with a time of 16:45, Shaylin Gutierrez in 8th with a time of 17:37, and Shanna Hime with a 10th place finish and a time of 19:14.Other runner who ran awesome were Priscilla in 19:45 in 12th place, Siveah Garcia in 21:34 in 13th, Oxchitl Hernandez in 23:40 in 14th place, Olga Huizar in 24:30 in 16th place, and Leighlah Silva in 25:30 in 18th place.
The 7th Girls will be at the Bandera Invitational on Saturday, October 10th.
7th Grade Boys
Micah Klein would win the gold medal for the 7th boys division with his 1st place finish in a time of 14:16. Isaiah Crus placed 14th in a time of 18:32 and Justin Villarreal placed 21st in a time of 22:24. 7th grade boys will be at the Bandera Cross Country meet on Saturday, October 10th.
8th Grade Girls
The 8th girls worked hard together and brought home a 2nd place finish at the Devine Invitational. The girls scored 29 points to finish 2nd to Devine who had scored 27 points.
The Lady Eagles had 4 girls receive medals for their efforts. Sarah Scharmann placed 1st with time of 15:11, Farah Standley place 2nd in a time of 15:27, Lillian Krause placed 7th with a time of 16:37, and Vannessa Chapa ran the course in 16:39 for a n 8th place finish. Rounding out the 8th grade Lady Eagles cross country team were:
Thalia Garcia – 11place in 18:24
Chloe Nieschwitz – 12th place in 18:28
Rebecca Martinez – 13th place in 18:20
Xitlalli Hernandez – 21st place in 20:22
Katelyn Garza – 22nd place in 20:45
Emery Yardley – 31st place in 26:45
Hailey Galloway – 33rd place in 27:59
8th grade Lady Eagles will be at Bandera on Saturday.
8th Grade Boys
The 8th grade boys were shorthanded this week with one runner absent at the Devine Meet. All 4 of the Eagle runners placed in the top ten and won medals.
Joseph Cuellar was the top runner for the Eagles with his 3rd place finish in a time of 14:12. Just behind Joseph was Frank Douglas in 4th place with a time of 14:15. Next was Zeke Garcia in 5th place with a time of 14:17 and Mason Little would place 6th with a time of 14:55.
Eagles will be at Bandera on Saturday, October 10th.
